Randomised Trial of Dual versus Single Antibiotic Loaded Cement in Hip Hemiarthroplasty for Fracture

This trial aims to establish if a high dose, broader spectrum antibiotic regime has fewer infections compared to normal dose antibiotic cement. Two types of cement, from the market leader, are routinely available in clinical practice; Palacos, a gentamicin loaded cement and Copal G+C, a gentamicin and clindamycin loaded cement (Heraeus Medical, Hanau, Germany).
